App of the Week for Nov. 19: Reflector
Price: $14.99
Reflector app is the perfect replacement for Apple TV mirroring. Reflector allows you to project your iPad onto any Mac or PC. Another great way to use it is to showcase anything that you have on your iPad onto your projector. It's practical because you can have the functionality of a PC and still show anything that is on an iPad without having to switch between different pieces of technology. I've found that integrating both of them in my classroom made me more efficient and my students have become more engaged. Another great feature that I found on the reflection app is the ability to record the iPad screen. Anything that you are showcasing can also be recorded and exported as a movie file and used anywhere that allows for mp4 files. The cost is also a really huge draw for me as one license is only 15 dollars. I went ahead and purchased five licenses and was able to get it for $40. I'll be sharing these licenses with co-workers. Another great feature that I found on Reflector is the ability to resize the iPad on your projector screen. If the iPad is the focal point, you can make it full screen or you can shrink it to take up small space on your screen; it can be a widget on your PC screen. Lastly, which can be great for presentations, is the ability to mirror multiple iPads and iOS 6 devices, depending on the computer's processing power, results may vary.
Pros:
Cons
This app requires that both devices share the same wifi network. For more information please visit
