App of the Week: Shape Lab

Picture
Price: $2.99

Get your students drawing shapes that actually look like... well, shapes. With Shape Lab, students can draw onto the iPad's screen any shaped they wish and the app will convert it into a similar polygon or conic. From their promotion material:

+ Hand Draw Shapes

Using advanced shape recognition technology, Shape Lab allows students to draw, manipulate and investigate shapes directly on the screen. Create shapes and lines by hand, or explore using the ready-made shapes provided.

+ Discover Shapes In The Environment

Discover the world around as seen in shapes. Use photographs for real world shape recognition in order to build geometry awareness and improve drawing skills. Import photos from the iPad library or take pictures using the in-app camera.

+ Create Shape Art

Let imaginations run with easy shape art activities. By organising geometric and organic shapes, students can explore the element of shapes with circles, rectangles, squares, triangles and so on.
