App of the Week for October 22nd:
Aurasma Lite

Price: FREE!!!
Have you ever wanted to let your images come alive? I mean, taking an actual American $20 bill, hovering over it, and having it play music and show fireworks above the white house? How about hovering over a logo and getting a promotional video about a product, a team, or an organization?
Maybe not. Maybe you just want to stick with the educational use of an app. Alright, how about hovering over a picture of your favorite candy bar in a science class and having some of the key elements come to life from the periodic table?
Truth is, Aurasma Lite allows you to create your own "Aura" or use one from the huge database of "Super Auras" that are pre-loaded into the app. Many of them are products or promotions, but you can easily create your own Aura for your classroom setting.
In an app store full of great ways to enhance your students' learning, Aurasma Lite is a diamond amongst them. Outside of the traditional classroom, it can help mechanics with schematics for parts or machines that they are unfamiliar with. Doctors and nurses can use this app to find out important drug information, dosage recommendations, patient history, and many other life-saving scenarios. The limits of Aurasma Lite are what you make of it. Download it for free and start working with it today!

- In math, create a station (or multiple stations) where students "discover" the slope of a line that is hidden in a real-life picture with an example and a problem built into the Aura.
- In science, give the students a picture of an igneous rock and have them hover over it to find out all about how the rock is formed, where it came from, elements within the rock, etc.
- In social studies, have the students hover over the important figure or picture of something within their current time period and have the app give a video explanation of the figure or period.
- In language arts, hover over a sentence that is pre-printed and set it up to read back to the students, give a video explanation, or elaborate on a story through visuals and audio enhancement
